01 The story, in three paragraphs

Why everyone keeps coming back.

Maoz Vegetarian at 8 Rue Xavier Privas, nestled in the vibrant 5th arrondissement of Paris, offers a delightful fast food experience focused on fresh, wholesome vegetarian cuisine. Specializing in falafel, this charming spot elevates Middle Eastern classics with a modern, health-conscious twist, perfect for locals and tourists seeking a quick yet satisfying meal.

The menu is a treasure trove for falafel lovers and vegetarians alike. Standout dishes such as the Maoz Falafel (€6.00) showcase perfectly crispy, freshly fried falafel patties bursting with fragrant spices. For an extra layer of richness, the Maoz Falafel Humus and Maoz Falafel Aubergine (€6.50 each) combine creamy hummus or savory roasted eggplant with the signature falafel, creating a symphony of textures and flavors that linger pleasantly on the palate. The popular Salade Menu invites diners to customize their bowls, pairing three warm falafel with a vibrant salad and a refreshing 33cl drink—ideal for a light but fulfilling meal.

One of Maoz Vegetarian’s most inviting qualities is its self-serve topping bar, a customer favorite that amplifies the dining experience. This feature allows you to unleash creativity by layering your sandwich or salad with a wide array of fresh toppings—from crisp vegetables to tangy salsas and smooth tahini sauces. The spicy green sauce, in particular, stands out with its exhilarating blend of chilies and fresh herbs, surprising the taste buds with every bite.

The atmosphere here is casual, friendly, and unpretentious, offering intimate seating with a few stools at the bar and cozy two-seat tables—perfect for a laid-back lunch or a casual dinner after exploring the nearby marvels of Notre Dame and Ste. Chapelle. Guests appreciate the lively but efficient vibe, where staff often prepare the falafel right before your eyes, ensuring each bite boasts unbeatable freshness and warmth.

Customer reviews echo the heartfelt appeal of Maoz Vegetarian. Alex S praises the “amazing falafel sandwich” with its “incredible” toppings selection and friendly service, painting a picture of a vibrant space ideal for gathering with friends. Aly Taylor captures the charm perfectly, noting the fresh-made falafels and tantalizing buffet of sauces and salsas. Debra Ducharme’s repeated visits underscore the unwavering quality: “The best falafels in Paris! Always fresh. Always delicious.” The genuine enthusiasm from Abdulaziz Boker about the hearty bread, rich hummus, and the “feast” of sauces perfectly mirrors the restaurant’s commitment to satisfying and wholesome vegetarian fare.

In essence, Maoz Vegetarian is a must-visit for anyone craving a delicious, plant-based meal in Paris. It deftly balances the speed and convenience of fast food with the integrity and freshness of thoughtfully prepared vegetarian cuisine. Whether you’re a falafel aficionado or simply seeking a vibrant, healthy bite, Maoz delivers an authentic and memorable dining experience that’s full of flavor, warmth, and a welcoming spirit.

The falafel sandwich was amazing. The self-serve toppings is a great idea and the selection of toppings is incredible. It was hard to choose which toppings so I basically chose all of them and it was delicious. The Bangladeshi man working there was also very friendly and provided great service. Great dinner option after going out for some drinks with friends. Perhaps one of the best vegan meals I’ve ever had.

Adorable little falafel shop tucked in an alleyway near Notre Dame and Ste. Chapelle. Has some stools at the bar and a few 2-seat dinette tables. Falafel and fries are made to order so hot and fresh! You add sandwich or salad toppings yourself from the buffet. A good selection of salsas and tahini too. The spicy green saucr one was a pleasant surprise; some kind of green leaf chutney with chilies mixed in. After saying bonjour, the staff spoke French, but repeated in English when they sensed my French is not fluent. Very friendly, yummy food, good portions, well located.

Everything in this restaurant is vegan. I had the royal falafel, which is falafel with fried eggplant. They make everything fresh and then they have a salad bar that you can add additional toppings to your pita with. This was probably the best falafel I’ve ever had. I normally don’t even like falafel I only went because it was close by but honestly I wish I would’ve gone more than once. HIGHLY recommend

We loved our meal at Maoz. We were looking for a vegetarian meal for my wife after our visit to Shakespeare & Co. and stumbled on to this place. Very fresh and tasty food and it’s also easy on the pocket. There are a lot of toppings and sauces that you can choose from. The server was really nice and hospitable too.
